Horak Insurance was started in 1928 by the late Paul R. Horak on the square in Washington, Iowa.   He suffered from polio and spent much of his time driving from farm to farm selling insurance.

The agency moved to its present location in Washington in the 1950's and continued to grow through the 60's, 70's and 80's under Paul's sons Richard and Tom Horak and the partnership of Cindy Lebsack.

The agency was expanded to Columbus Junction in 1992 with the acquisition of the Howell Insurance Agency.   The purchase of Sigourney Insurance Services in 1995 and the L E Williamson Agency in 1996 expanded our business to the Sigourney area.

The agency principals are now Luke and Paul Horak.   We have three offices, eleven full-time employees and write business in seven mid-western states and Arizona.
